Prerequisite Algebra 1
This course will emphasize the mastery of geometric and logical concepts in connection with other fields.
Topics covered will include:
inductive and deductive reasoning
geometric construction
properties of lines and angles
properties of two-and three-dimensional shapes
congruence and similarity, and applications of geometry to art and other fields.
The course will require frequent homework, with an emphasis on the student's discovery of concepts. Students will also be expected to work online with the instructor and members of a study group. This course lays the foundation for the deductive skills required in all higher-level math courses. All students are expected to utilize a Texas Instruments graphing calculator. For mathematically-inclined students, this course may be taken concurrently with Algebra 2.
